A Look Back

The end is quickly approaching. I've finished class for my undergraduate career and graduation is in 2 weeks. I keep thinking about the things that I never got a chance to do while I was here: the classes I didn't get to take, the traditions I didn't partake in, the places I didn't go - but I feel like this isn't the way to go about things. So instead, I'm going to make a list of the things that I DID get to do at Smith, because a lot of them I wouldn't have been able to do elsewhere and I truly believe that I wouldn't be the person I am had I not gone to Smith. So, without further ado and in no particular order:

I saw Gloria Steinam speak in person
I met Art Speigelman
I got heavily involved in homosexual activism
I took part in a successful campaign to get Smith to divest from Darfur
I interned for the Governor
I found a passion in law
I met some of the most incredible friends in the world
I grew up and became independent
I learned to like myself
I got an awesome job that gave me tons of experience in the research field
I learned how to Salsa
I went to a sex toy party
I got into knitting
I tried all kinds of food I wouldn't have otherwise: sushi, spanikopita, tofu, tempeh (gross), soy milk, Greek food, Indian food, lamb, you name it
I met Nikki Giovanni
I heard Carole Morton speak
I went to NYC with the art department even though I'm not an art student and got to tour the cloisters and the MMA
I saw a bunch of concerts mad cheap
I got up at the crack of dawn to do visibility for Deval Patrick with the Smith Dems
I drove over 100 miles in one day with my two best friends with no destination in mind and in the process drove up Mount Tom and saw dinosaur footprints
Immorality Night, Carlos Night, Tom Jones Night, Big Sib Little Sib, Winter and Spring Weekends, Convocation, Primal Scream

I've also come to realize that way more of the past 4 years than I expected is just a blur to me now.
