Inspired
I used to keep a notebook near my bed where I used to write down, well, lots of things - snippets of song lyrics and poetry that spoke to me, some verses that came to me, even whole songs and poems. I used to write a lot but somewhere along the line in college I lost it. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I suspect it was a combination of things: depression, an orientation towards strictly academic writing, a drying up of my "creative juices," a lack of inspiration... Over the past year or two my life has changed a lot and I'm finding myself more inclined to write again. However, I've also found that it's not as simple as jumping back into it. I don't remember the things that come to me the way I used to and it's not easy even forming those ideas. I need to reconnect to find inspiration in things the way I used to, I need to make note of those things that speak to me in some way. I need to be open and awake again, sensitive to those things going on around me and willing to envelop myself in them. I need a new notebook.
